The Penultimate Procedures

Date

Cutting foamIt’s been nearly a month since we left the boat yard. In that time Laurel and I have cut the foam for our new cushions, made fuel storage on deck, installed the new in-hull transducer, sold my car (another story), sold our old 120v-land lubber fridge, installed the anchor light and steaming light, fixed the bilge pumps, organized the ENTIRE boat, provisioned and tons of other little things.

Anchor lightIt’s funny how frugal we try to be. Everything is such a rip off when it comes to boats. So overly priced that in order for Laurel and I to get any projects done we have to be creative, thrifty and resourceful. Things like dumpster diving at boat yards, eBay searching, Craigslist hunting and re-purposing things. We found cushion foam in the dumpster and our anchor light is a frankesteined version of our old non working one.

Sam's Club TripSo, after many days of projects and organizing, it was time to provision. The first stop was Sam’s Club for bulk items. This includes: water, snacks, canned goods, and meat. The next stop was Walmart: toiletries, more canned goods, outboard oil and batteries. We also made a stop to the grocery store for small containers of mayo and tartar sauce. $1,200 later our boat is packed to the ceiling and our water line is a lot lower.

Where's Laurel?
